INTERVIEW
Singer Imany presents Tuesday in It feels good his future album Voodoo cello, a cover project conceived around eight cellos, which will be released next September. But this album almost never saw the light of day, not because of the Covid-19, but because of the burnout that the artist had in 2018. She explains to the microphone of Anne Roumanoff how she considered a time to stop singing altogether, before the desire for the studio and the stage gradually returns to him.
First questioned about the first confinement, Imany confides that this moment of 2020 was for her an awareness. “We are entering a kind of routine where, in the end, we don’t spend that much time with the family. My husband likes to say that his daughter, who was one and a half years old at the time of the confinement, discovered that she had a father, ”she explains. “This period forced me to reflect on the way I lived.”
“I wasn’t even going to see the other artists on stage anymore”
But this thought had already started in his mind some time before. “I had a real burnout in 2018, I burned so much,” recalls Imany. “I didn’t even think I was going to come back. I’m told I was going to take care of my kids, maybe do something else. Anyway, do things differently. I don’t feel like going back. in the album-promo-tour scheme. “
It must be said that each album of the singer requires her to tour concerts and promote marathons. “What I do in France in terms of TV, radio, etc., I must also do in Poland, Russia, Italy …”, recalls the singer. Imany had even started thinking about changing jobs. “I said to myself that maybe I was going to write again, and write songs for others. Maybe produce other artists,” says the singer. “But I wanted to withdraw from the scene a bit.”
But the desire for the scene eventually returned. “We are preparing, we are less exhausted”, explains Imany. “I was so disgusted that I didn’t even go to see the other artists on stage anymore. I was kind of like a war traumatized person. And then, after a while, things calm down, they calm down. . We’re going to have other bands, and we’re like ‘ah hey, I miss that’. ” Imany should, depending on health authorizations, return to the stage in June 2021.
