Imantday will take place on Latvian Radio 2 / Article

On July 1, on the name day of composer Imants Kalniņš, a special event is expected on Latvian Radio 2 – “Radio Imantdiena”. This year marks the 45th anniversary of Imantadien. Although it cannot happen in person, the composer’s music lovers are invited to gather on the radios to experience the indelible atmosphere of Imantdays, celebrating with the musicians and singing along. “Radio Imantdienas” will be opened by the composer himself with traditional and special words. The concert will be heard on Latvian Radio 2 at 8 pm, but before that, at 7.05 pm, there will be a special program dedicated to Imants Kalniņš.

The “Radio Imantdienas” concert will feature singers whose music is close to Imants Kalniņš, and the composer has a special place in their lives – Marts Kristiāns Kalniņš, Olga Rajecka, Uģis Roze, Kristīne Kārkle Kalniņa, Ainars Mielavs and Daumants Kalniņš. The concert will be accompanied by the Queen’s Music Knights Orchestra – Jānis Miltiņš (keyboards), Jānis Kalniņš (guitar), Artis Orubs (percussion), Valters Sprūdžs (bass guitar) and Edgars Kārklis (accordion, bagpipes).

“Latvijas Radio 2 has always followed the work of the genius composer Imants Kalniņš and has been present every Imantday for many years, which is one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Although this year has introduced corrections – we cannot gather for an open-air concert, we did everything we could to say in the 45th anniversary year: “Imantadienis will be there!” Said Kaspars Mauriņš, Director of Latvian Radio 2. He acknowledged:

“Golden songs will be played on the radio, which have been rooted from generation to generation and addressed the soul of the people.

Immanad listeners all over the world are once again invited to live the composer’s music, agree on singing together and celebrate the music festival from the heart! ”

In the concert we will hear such legendary Imantays songs as “Don’t let the children in the forest”, “Lily song”, “Song for the Dude”, “Four white shirts”, “I saw in a dream”, “Song with which will you start?” and many others.

Before the concert of “Radio Imantdienas”, at 19.05 there will be a program “Sheet music” dedicated to Imants Kalniņš.

Program manager Daiga Mazvērsīte said about the show: “Before the concert of“ Radio Imantdienas ”we will look back at Imants Kalniņš’s active musical journey, the facts of which the younger generation of listeners are sometimes surprised by.

The show will also feature a conversation with the composer, in which he admitted that in his 80th anniversary year, there are still poems for which he is ready to create music. He is active and active. ”

“Radio Imantdienas” was created by Līna Rudzone, Kaspars Mauriņš, Velga Vītola and Daiga Mazvērsīte. The recording of the concert was made in the legendary Latvian Radio 1st studio. Its sound director is Pāvels Mališkins, sound engineers Ivo Tauriņš, Māris Lācis and Augustīns Delle.

“Radio Imantdiena” was created within the framework of the Latvian State Centennial Program.
