İmamoğlu visited the Syriac Church

Visiting the Syriac Ancient Virgin Mary Church in Beyoğlu for the Easter Feast, İmamoğlu met with the Assyrian Ancient Congregation Deputy Patriarch Yusuf Çetin and members of the congregation.

Stating that he will spend the holiday in Hatay, İmamoğlu said, “Being together with you and sharing these beautiful moments with you is a feast for us. I wish our unity, our togetherness, to be as long as humanity exists. I wish the existence of diversity living in this city. With the pain that the earthquake caused us this year. It started off as a tough year together.

It is our responsibility to overcome these difficulties. We have lost people of all faiths and ethnic backgrounds, our pain is one. I need your support. Istanbul was affected by this process, but with a memory, it stood by it with hugs and solidarity. On this occasion, I plan to spend the holiday in Hatay next week. We have an election calendar ahead of us, we have a busy schedule, but when we miss such beautiful moments, we would not be doing this city justice. Deputy Patriarch of the Assyrian Ancient Community, Yusuf Çetin, said, “We glorify the same God with our language and tradition. God says in his holy word, ‘You shall love your human brother as yourself’. Man is holy. This is God’s will. If everyone loves his human neighbor, this world will go to heaven. “We remember our elders in every prayer, we pray for unity. The Islamic world is fasting, may Allah accept it. I congratulate the holidays of the Jews and the Islamic world,” he said.
