Allegations that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality paid 300 thousand Euros per day in rent for Istanbul House, which it opened in Paris for 2 days to carry out lobbying activities for the 2036 Olympic bid, have been denied. Murat Ongun, advisor to the President of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Ekrem İmamoğlu, said: “The weekly rent of the house is 249 thousand Euros and all costs are covered by the unconditional donations of the supporters. “No money has been spent from the IMM budget for this important international promotion activity on the way to Istanbul’s Olympic bid,” he said.

Istanbul House was opened in the famous Paris fashion museum, “Palais Galliera”, in collaboration with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and the Turkish National Olympic Committee. Opening; CHP President Özgür Özel, Union of Türkiye Cities (TBB) and President of IMM Ekrem İmamoğluCHP Istanbul Regional Chairman Özgür Çelik and with the participation of 17 Istanbul district mayors.

İmamoğlu’s adviser Murat Ongun responded to the allegations on his social media account.
