Imam of a Mosque in Sulawesi Persecuted to Death Before Fajr Prayer

The victim was found covered in blood on the terrace of the mosque because his head was beaten.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LUWU — The Imam of the Al Ikhwan Mosque, Senga Village, Belopa District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, was reported to have been persecuted to death when he was about to pray Fajr, Friday (12/3). The body of the victim, Yusuf Katubi, was found covered in blood on the terrace of the mosque.

The video of the victim’s assault has gone viral on social media. As reported by Instagram @Palopo_Info, from CCTV footage of the mosque, it is known that the victim who lived in Senga Village was persecuted by being beaten on the head and face until she was bleeding when she opened the mosque door before Fajr prayer.

One of the residents, Anto said the victim had been rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately the life of the priest was not saved.

“The victim was rushed by residents to a nearby hospital. But his life can’t be helped anymore,” said Anto.

Rumors circulated that the perpetrator who was being lewd did not accept the victim’s reprimand so that he carried out the persecution.
