This year, Volkswagen will continue the success story of the Touareg model. The updates will be both technical and visual.
The rear and front of the SUV have been redesigned, the chassis has been developed for more comfort and performance. Ahead of the world premiere scheduled for the summer of 2023, Volkswagen is now providing some information about this model.
The new Touareg covered in camouflage foil is still completing its last test kilometers in the arctic area of Sweden. Although the design changes are still hidden under the foil with the graphic theme of a QR code, the images of the prototype offer some new details. At the front, you can see the matrix IQ.LIGHT HD headlights and the elements of an LED light strip, also new, integrated between them.

Matrix IQ.LIGHT HD headlights are made up of 38,400 micro LEDs
The “HD” in the name stands for High Definition, i.e. a very high resolution. Which means a sea of extremely bright points of light, generated by a total of 38,400 micro LEDs. They provide more light on the road without blinding oncoming traffic. 19,200 micro-LEDs are distributed on the new headlights on each side of the vehicle.
The new Touareg has an illuminated logo at the rear. It is the first model from Volkswagen to have an illuminated logo at the rear. From January 2023, the appearance of the Volkswagen emblem illuminated in red is also allowed in Europe. Previously, the logo was only allowed in markets such as China or the US.
Volkswagen further developed the chassis of the Touareg model to receive all-wheel drive
Among the novelties, the Germans announce that a load sensor has been mounted on the roof, which is connected to the electronic system of the chassis. The advantage would be increased agility when the roof is not loaded. If a luggage rack is installed on top, the sensor recognizes this and transmits this information to assistance systems such as ESC. This increases driving stability.
The suspension on steel springs as well as the air suspension received a new configuration for maximum comfort and optimal performance.
Touareg it receives the “Innovision Cockpit” system controlled by means of the central touch screen (diagonal 38.1 cm / 15 inches) but also a multifunction steering wheel. The infotainment system offers precise navigation and high-resolution HD map data. Voice control has also been improved. Application integration via smartphone and “App Connect” (Apple CarPlay, Android Auto) can now also be done wirelessly.
The quality level has been improved after evaluating customer feedback. The armrests and center console panels are softer which brings more comfort.
The updates to the new Touareg make it a balanced SUV suitable for long journeys as well as everyday life in city traffic.
