This Tuesday afternoon in Dijon a fire broke out on the first floor of the building that housed the Le Vega bar, on rue du 26ème Dragons. Neighbors denounce the unhealthiness of this building, which has been abandoned for more than two years.

The plume of smoke was clearly visible above the rooftops on Tuesday 25 October. Rue du 26ème Dragons, a two-story building, caught fire this afternoon around 3pm. The fire started from the first floor. On the ground floor is the former Le Vega bar, whose facade has remained intact since its closure.

18 firefighters were mobilized as well as EDF and GDF teams. The fire caused no casualties. But on the spot the neighbors report the lack of maintenance of this building, abandoned for more than two years. “The owner doesn’t take care of it and leaves it abandoned.”

“The building is unsanitary and we are waiting for a fire to take care of it!”, Plague a neighbor.

His neighboring house did not suffer any damage a priori but his family was disturbed by the fumes. According to these neighbors, the bar closed two and a half years ago because the ceiling on the first floor collapsed. The manager decided to lower the curtain at that moment. “

Since then, the entire building has been abandoned. Was he crouched? Difficult to say. After the fire, the firefighters evacuated a number of items stored on the first floor, but these items may have been left there by the previous owner. For the moment the reason for the outbreak of the fire is not known. “70% of the fires are of electrical origin“, however, the firefighters note.
