Alexandria – Mohamed Amer:
A landslide occurred following a fracture in a drainage pipe in the Derbala area, east of Alexandria, today, Tuesday, which caused the fall of a bus carrying 24 people inside, with no injuries or damage.
The operations room in the Al-Montazah district received the first report according to which a sewage pipe had broken and that a landslide had caused the fall of a bus carrying 24 people inside it, in via Bin Salama, in the area of Derbala entrance.
The examination revealed that the sewer line n. 5 was broken and caused the tarmac to collapse, to a depth of approximately 3 x 4 metres, and a bus carrying 24 passengers fell into the pit, which was bulldozed out of the neighbourhood.
The interruption, which occurred in conjunction with the departure time of the school buses, also caused a slight traffic congestion due to the direction towards the schools, while the Department of Traffic has opened some alternative routes to the road system.
For his part, Muhammad Sahloul, head of the first district of Al-Montazah, said that the site was handed over today to the sanitation contractor to repair the fracture and to notify the road and transport directorate to restore the thing to its original condition.
