MENTIONING “THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM”: Comedian Chris Rock on his way to the Wilbur Theater in Boston.

For the first time since he was slapped by Will Smith on stage during the Oscars, the comedian comments on the incident.

Published:

Three days after the incident at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood is the first time Rock has appeared in public, when he started his new stand-up tour in Boston on Wednesday night.

Inside and outside the hall of the Wilbur Theater, there were not only fans, but also a bunch of journalists in place.

Among other things, journalists from the entertainment magazine Deadline and Variety.

They write that Rock was received by fans who gave him standing ovations for several minutes.

SOLD OUT: Rock’s stand-up show was sold out at the Wilbur Theater in Boston. Several journalists had seats in and outside the hall.

Thus, it took some time before the comedian and actor got to talk about “the elephant in the room”.

– How was your weekend? he asks the audience, to a violent laugh from the hall, the newspapers write.

Rock thus did not address the incident directly, but still talked about what “everyone” understood what it was about.

– I’m processing what happened yet. At some point I will talk about “that shit”, he says to the audience.

– It will be both serious and fun, he adds.

Varity has done a recording of the statements.

«Fuck Will Smith»

Then he comes with a stab at those in the hall who have only come to hear him talk about Will Smith.

– I have a whole show that I wrote before this weekend, he says.

One in the audience exclaims “Fuck Will Smith”, before Rock continues.

– I’ll tell you some jokes. It’s nice to just be out, he says, before continuing the planned show, without coming back to the weekend’s event, according to the journalists on site.

Will have consequences

So it was not the winning films that became the big theme after Sunday’s Oscars.

The talk ended instead of becoming actor Will Smith’s slap against Rock, during the live TV show. This happened after Rock joked about the appearance of Jada Pinkett Smith, who has the hair disease alopecia.

Smith apologized for the incident in the speech when he won the Oscar for best male lead, and later on Instagram.

The Oscar academy has nevertheless said that the incident is a violation of their guidelines and that it’s going to have consequences for Smith.

The academy also says that Smith was asked to leave the hall after the incident, which they claim he refused.
