I’m standing here by your sock

Dirty socks. The plague in every family household. They are lying around everywhere, preferably individually, rarely in pairs. And who cleans it up? Oh well. Unfortunately, now I have to get very personal, I also belong to those people who, um, “lose” their socks everywhere in the house. And unfortunately I passed this trait on to our children.

A post by “Xep Campbell” is currently making the rounds on Facebook. Obviously a mother in the US. She had found her daughter’s stinky sock in the bathroom on Thanksgiving and decided to just wait and see if she ever moved away from there.

But when she was still there after a week, she concluded that it must be on purpose – and put a little label on how you get works of art in museums. “The forgotten sock. Mixed materials. On loan from the artist’s collection.”

But then things escalated a little. The daughter put the sock on a, uh, pedestal. A few animal figures came together to look at the whole thing. Even the enigmatic monolith recently found in the Utah desert came to visit. In the end, however, it was Christmassy: All of a sudden a small child was lying in the sock. Mary and Joseph were there, along with the animals. A small candle. A sock crib in the bathroom.

When asked how long it should stay like this in the not exactly large bathroom, the ten-year-old daughter replied quick-witted: “How long do such art exhibitions usually last?”

The whole story has now been shared over 100,000 times on Facebook. Many have asked the author if she doesn’t want to write a book or if she wants to monetize her suddenly achieved fame in some other way. Your answer to that: No, I don’t want that. But if you want to make me happy – donate to the “Jumping Mouse Children’s Center”, a therapy center for children with trauma experiences. That makes the whole story even more Christmassy.

Merry Christmas unknown to the USA and thank you for this wonderful Christmas experience!
