“I’m not with Novak Djokovic and I’m not 100% with …”

What will tennis be like without the Big 3? A recurring question over the past few years that may have found an answer in Miami in the past few weeks. The first Masters 1000 since 2004 without Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic certainly caused big surprises and left a symptom of unpredictability that the presence of at least one of the three champions was almost always eliminated.

A power vacuum that is not easy to fill in a short time and that certainly makes everything a lot more fun and appealing. Those who had to take the lead like Medvedev or Zverev didn’t take the opportunity while other favorites like Tsitsipas and Rublev were still in the running (they played their quarter-finals today).

It is the tournament of surprises, but also that of future stars, and one of them is certainly Jannik Sinner. The native of San Candido reached the semifinals in a Masters 1000 for the first time and definitely started his name in the main tour.

Jannik was good at achieving a certainly favorable result, but he was able to display a strength and mentality that only a future champion at just 19 years old can have. A Masters 1000 also from many other young people, such as Sinner’s “Italian rival” Lorenzo Musetti, but also many others such as the Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the Kazakh Alexander Bublik and the American Sebastian Korda.

Talented players who are ready for a definite leap in quality. Many names are ready to take the stage in the future. Miami was a starter for what tennis awaits next year, but already from Monte Carlo we will return to the present as in all likelihood there will be both Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

The legends are not ready to give up their throne yet, but the new is unstoppable and perhaps a new era has begun in Florida. Alexander Bublik believes the Novak Djokovic-led PTPA is just talk, not action.

According to Bublik, while ATP is not in itself a perfect organization, the PTPA is not a viable alternative as it does not yet offer any concrete solutions.

Bublik on Novak Djokovic’s PTPA

“Well, I only saw the video when Vasek was trying to sue ATP or whatever he said,” said Alexander Bublik.

“I’m not with this PTPA or whatever it’s called (myself). I mean, no single organization is perfect and of course I think we could do better, but at the end of the day the ATP sees for us.

And I can’t really say much because I’m not with Novak Djokovic and not 100% with ATP, you know, I’m just trying to make a living here. When I get into that, imagine the talking because it was me when this PTPA started, “he added.

“I’ve been in that group and have had so many conversations that they try to do so many things, but nothing is done, you know that. Basically, it’s just about talking right now. I haven’t seen anything that really happens . “Photo Credit: Sports Illustrated
