Sarah, originally named Sarah Fergusonreceived two cancer diagnoses in a short period of time. In autumn 2023 Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer, in January 2024 with skin cancer.
Getting the diagnosis made Sarah feel dark.
– When you’re told you have cancer, you can’t help but think it’s a death sentence. Your mind goes to the darkest places and you think about what lies ahead and how you will tell your family about it. That’s what happened to me when breast cancer was found in a routine mammogram, something I’ve always been afraid of, Sarah describes in The Sun.
A routine inspection ended up saving the duchess’s life. A moment later, a new cancer diagnosis came.
– One cancer diagnosis is bad enough. Two backlogs is a lot for anyone to handle.
Sarah has had one breast removed. The melanoma and the surrounding area have also been removed and the other moles have been checked for cancer.
– This has been a difficult period, and I’m not in the clear yet, Sarah says about her current state.
