The military has the top ten Toyota Hilux passenger cars available. Until the first units are used, some of them will be handed over on Tuesday after the official takeover. The army equipment will replace the aged UAZ and Land Rover vehicles. By 2024, soldiers could receive up to 1,200 of these new cars, and the Ministry of Defense will pay 1.07 billion crowns for them.

65 vehicles have already arrived in army warehouses, and soldiers now have to register them and train their next users. The first of them will be handed over to the 43rd Airborne Regiment in Chrudim on Tuesday in the premises of the Technical Services Material Security Center in Štěpánov with the participation of the top management of the Ministry and the Army.
Toyota Hilux will be supplied to the army by Glomex MS, a framework agreement concluded with the Ministry of Defense last November. The Ministry of Defense has been trying to replace the obsolete UAZ 463 and Land Rover Defender for several years. Vehicles will be used, for example, to transport people or supply, they should move exclusively outside the possible battlefield. The Ministry of Defense has previously stated that the military requires machines in the same form as they are made for civilian use. For example, they will not be armored, but soldiers want, for example, holders for assault rifles or khaki paint. They can accommodate five people.
The takeover of the cars into the use of the army was made possible by successful military tests, according to the army website, they were given the task of specialists from the 14th Logistics Support Regiment. The Toyota was tested at night and during the day on the roads and in the field in military districts. Soldiers tested, for example, load capacity, engine reliability or assessed driving characteristics. The four drivers drove a total of almost 5,000 kilometers. Technicians and repairmen were also part of the test team.
