I’m not a pop-folk fan, my hit “Ognebretso moi” is a parody
The performer of “My Firefighter” – Radka Kurshuma, said:
“The fires are due to the carelessness of the state. If I have to be more precise, to simplicity and stupidity. People throw butts, burn stubble. No one at all takes into account the August heat.”
According to her, the gendarmerie should be sent to guard the field. Lest some intellectual appear to start a fire with a cigarette.
“My hit about the fireman was a parody. I was just writing lyrics for a play and wondering what the main character’s profession would be. I happened to see a fireman through the window and decided to be a fireman. It’s just a joke, but some people took it as a real song . I’m not a fan of pop folk.”
When she travels on tours, Radka collects recipes from all regions, cities and villages. He writes them down in a notebook, as well as funny incidents from life, which he later uses for his repertoire.
The bullet is guided by the face of the audience
“Ventzi Martynov, when he was making my albums, told me to be recorded as Radka Kurshuma. This comes from the nickname of my grandfather, who was a very accurate shooter,” the actress laughs.
According to her, the Bulgarian’s sense of humor has not changed over the years. It just depends on the intelligence of the person.
“When I work, I always behave according to the audience’s face. If they are more simple, I use simpler humor. If they are intelligent, I follow their reactions a lot.”
The show depends a lot on the emotionality of the audience, according to Kurshuma. In some regions people are more reserved and in others more open.
“A sense of humor cannot be killed – you either have it or you don’t. Branislav Nušić said in his autobiography that you are born with it,” she says.
One of the actress’s favorite jokes is a conversation between neighbors:
– Neighbor, tiles were falling from your roof last night, what happened?
– Dogs, neighbors, nothing.
– Well, that one dog was wearing a cap, I guess.
According to the firefighter, Bulgarians mostly like everyday humor. If only it wasn’t at their expense. She laughs at herself and says: “Now I get up only to be put on some bostan to scare the gargoyles”.
