Lando Norris will start the Mexico City Grand Prix from the third grid behind Carlos Sainz and Max Verstappen – the second place in the championship points race is satisfied with his position.
On behalf of McLaren, Lando Norris was the only participant in Q3, as Oscar Piastri was already grinding in Q1. From a Constructors’ Championship perspective, Piastri’s early departure did not go well for the Woking stable, on the other side of the garage Norris is satisfied with his third starting place.
“It’s hard to say if we got everything out of the car, but I’m happy with third place. I think I managed to find the limits of the car relatively quickly. “We looked really good, but in the last two laps I struggled to get a bit more out of the car,” said Norris after qualifying.
“Carlos drove well and was able to be very fast all weekend, so I’m happy with my position.
What can you expect at the race?
“No one has really done longer stages on race compounds, so there are question marks for everyone. Ferrari has been showing very good pace in qualifying and races recently, so we will have a tough time. Despite all this, I am optimistic, because I can start the race in a good position,” said the British McLaren driver.
