I’m fine. I had a scare. Thank God I have a good gene, he helped me get over the hops

The Deputy Secretary General of NATO affirmed, in an interview conducted by Marius Tucă for the Gândul newspaper, that “the locomotive will always go faster than the last carriage”, trying to say in fact that the direction is given by the locomotive, without ignoring the importance of a carriage in a train, notes clubferoviar.ro

“(It is a mistake – ed) to think that somehow there is a pulling effect. The fact that you are part of the single market, the EU, NATO, would automatically attract you. No! It pulls you if you are the last machine, the locomotive will always go faster than the last machine. In fact, even those who imitate will never be better than the original,” explained Mircea Geoană (52.30 minutes).

The clubferoviar.ro website recalls that, over the years, he made some controversial statements, which at one point earned him the nickname “crazy” by the then leader of the PSD, Ion Iliescu.

In 2005, Ion Iliescu called Mircea Geoana a “crazy” in full session of the PSD senatorial group. To the amazement of the audience, at one point, while discussing a topic related to the parliamentary situation of the PSD, Ion Iliescu stated that “Mircea Geoana behaved like an idiot between the two rounds of presidential voting, when he went around for the country and said that UDMR will be with PSD in government”. Ion Iliescu then appreciated that these statements by Mircea Geoana led to the loss of an important number of votes in Transylvania, which ultimately meant the loss of the presidential elections of Adrian Năstase.

Context

Mircea Geoană is again in a media campaign in the country. Besides the interview for Marius Tucă in Gândul, Geoană spoke in another interview for Damian Draghici’s podcast about his illness, without going into detail.

“Life brings you not only success and joy, the more troubles come, the more sicknesses come. There is also a problem that can happen at work, work, retirement, it happens. The most important thing is to continue how much God takes care of this earth”, said Mircea Geoană. (1h:03 of the interview)

He also spoke about the disease in the interview with Tucă, but did not provide details there either:I’m fine. I had a scare. Thank God and because I have a good gene, it helped me get over the hops. I had a scare that passed. We can’t wait”. (min 30.34 of the interview)

Geoană told Damian Drăghici’s podcast, which aired on Saturday, that after the 2009 election he had a slump in energy that amazed doctors who investigated him.

“I came to a checkup, after 2009, I was a cabbage… And they put me on some machines and measured a sort of energy intensity. They began to call each other: the doctors and the nurses, the younger doctors, the teacher. They looked at me like a guinea pig… I had such a low energy level that they said to me: “but can you walk?!” Do you still have intercourse outside I don’t know what? And I stayed like that for a few days… I recovered, I got scared and then went back to get checked and it was normal. They told me they had never seen anyone in their life so emotionally and energetically drained, and a few days later…My case was extreme. What I mean is that you have to be patient with yourself You have to trust yourself, don’t beat yourself up every time, said Mircea Geoană in Damian Drăghici’s podcast.

During the meeting with Drăghici, Geoană spoke about the conflict in Ukraine, his beginnings in diplomacy and the external relations that Romania will have to develop in the future.

Digi 24 announces, for its part, in a promo, an interview with Mircea Geoană for Saturday, when he will be present at the show La Cîna, produced by Ionela Năstase.

Geoană has again denied that he wants to run in the 2024 presidential elections.

G4Media.ro revealed in July 2022 that NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană is preparing his presidential candidacy, several political sources told G4Media. Elections are in 2024 and Geoana’s mandate at NATO ends in October 2023.

Geoană said at the time that he could not confirm or deny whether he would stand as a candidate in Romania’s 2024 presidential election and that he could not answer this question until after he finished his tenure as NATO deputy secretary general.

A support committee for Geoană’s candidacy has already been formed, which his wife, Mihaela Geoană, would especially deal with.

Geoana has stood out for a constant and increasingly intense presence at public events in Romania and for periodic public appearances in the Romanian media.
