I’m fighting a disease that has taken over my brain

Former face of Amici, the singer has always been quite active on social media, but in recent months he had disappeared. With a video, he explains that he is fighting post-Covid meningitis which turned out to be more serious than expected. “No, I haven’t gained weight. It is the effect of the medicines, of the cortisone”.

Pasqualino Maione was one of the faces of the golden years of Amici. The singer, who participated in Maria De Filippi’s talent show in the 2008 edition, had recently distanced himself from social media due to some Health problems. Covid has had some nasty consequences and now Pasqualino is battling one disease affecting the brain and spinal cord.

Pasqualino returns to social media and talks about the disease

Always quite active on TikTok, the singer had taken a break from his followers in recent months. Unfortunately behind this choice there were some health problems that forced him to stay under therapy and under observation by doctors. “Hello everyone, I haven’t been on TikTok for five months now. Unfortunately I haven’t been well, I had a serious health problem that distanced me a bit from social networks”, he said in a video.

No, I haven’t gained weight. It’s the effect of the medicinescortisone, because I’m in therapy and I’m facing a great battle against the pathology which unfortunately has taken over my brain and bone marrow”, he adds trying not to give up. For the moment he is better, but continues to be monitored. “I had meningitis, post Covid, which was taken in time thanks to the Vanvitelli doctors whom I thank so much, who still keep me under therapy and who are trying to make me live as best as possible and heal as soon as possible. The road is still long, but we will make it.”

Complications after Covid

It is not the first time that the singer has spoken about his illness. The first time in August 2022, he had shown himself on a hospital bed because of a severe form of Covidwhich forced him into hospitalization. “Beware of this bloody Covid, I had underestimated it, but for 10 days i’m going through hell”, he wrote. Then in October he went back to the hospital again, explaining that the situation had worsened. “It turned out to be much more serious than I could have thought… unfortunately after Covid my conditions worsened and I had to go to the hospital to be treated for a bad infection that had affected the spinal cord and brain“.
