After his impressive last victories in Brazil and Qatar, Lewis Hamilton tasted blood in the world championship fight – his car was “a monster diva”, praised the Mercedes star.
Despite his narrow deficit in the World Cup standings is Lewis Hamilton satisfied with his performance so far in the current Formula 1 season. “I’m even more focused than I ever was,” said the British Mercedes driver in an interview with the specialist magazine “Auto, Motor und Sport”.

At the same time, the 36-year-old named the special challenges this year, when he wants to be the first driver to become world champion for the eighth time. “I noticed that this car is difficult to set up. Toto (Mercedes Motorsport Director Toto Wolff, editor’s note) used to call our car a diva. This car is now a monster diva,” said Hamilton.

Hamilton only eight points behind Verstappen
“In combination with the shortened training time, it makes the task extremely difficult to hit the right window. If you don’t make it, I as a driver can’t get the most out of it,” continued Hamilton. Most recently, however, he succeeded again: with victories in Brazil and Qatar, the veteran moved up to eight points on World Cup leader Max Verstappen. “I know that he is a super fast driver. And he is sure to get faster, the more mature he is over time. There are no doubts,” said Hamilton about the Red Bull star.
