– In Sri Lanka, a mother accused of hitting and killing her 9-year-old daughter while conducting an exorcism ritual for’we must drive out evil spirits’ was caught by police.
On the 1st (local time), according to the British Independent, the Sri Lankan police arrested a mother who regularly beat her daughter and an exorcist who conducted the ceremony.
Local police said the incident occurred in Delgoda, a small town outside Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. The child’s mother came to the exorcist’s house, saying,’My daughter was possessed by the devil,’ who continued to hit the child with a stick after applying oil.
Eventually the child lost consciousness and was taken to a nearby hospital, but died. The local police will investigate the specific cause of death as soon as the autopsy proceeds.
Local police found that this exorcist has recently continued a kind of’Exorcism’ ritual in the same area. Further investigations are underway to see if there are other cases of damage.
Meanwhile, the court ordered the child’s mother and exorcist to be detained until the 12th.
