Vítkovice will start the new season on Friday on Litvínov’s ice, the Ostravas would like to finish with a medal around their neck. Krenželok’s assistant Peter Mueller, who joined Vítkovice in the summer from Kometa Brno, should also help to reach the daring goal. The second assistant will be another excellent scorer Dominik Lakatoš.

Lukáš, what do you expect from Vítkovice in the new season?
–
We have strengthened ourselves and we want to go as far as possible. I have lived through some medals, in hockey the best thing is to play for them. And every season should go towards them. I never started the season thinking we would play well and safely. Life in hockey is so short. I’ve been playing there for twenty years now, but it seems to me that it has gone terribly wrong. I want the best from every season, the greatest possible success. I have been saying for twenty years that the important thing is to make the playoffs. And that doesn’t change this year either. It may seem easy to make it to the playoffs, but first everything has to fit in with the team. Good crew. It looks good so far, but only when the beginning says so. Any point we lose unnecessarily could cost us in the end. So we need to focus on the details and collect them.

What should be Vítkovice’s strength?
–
We need to watch the defense. And power-ups to boot. We should be stronger in attack, we could score more goals. But we will see, anything can happen. We will play similar hockey, only more goals should be more likely.

Shooter Peter Mueller arrived in the summer, did he fit in well?
–
I have already experienced a few stars on the team and I can see that he is a pro. I like how he works, how prepared he is. Sounds good enough to me so far.

He doesn’t really like losing, did he show his displeasure after losing?
–
Yes, he was bad in France, but nobody likes defeat. Me neither. But then again, I’ve learned over the years that it’s better to recover well and prepare for the next game than to be sad. I don’t have to be mean to other people. But everyone has a different personality. Some are cutting things off, others are doing something else. I know he is behind me, I will not take him back and I will prepare for the next game. I will not dwell on that match, I will focus on the next one.

Will you be a captain, can you make a lot of noise in the cabin?
–
I’m usually quiet, but when my tube breaks, I can scream. And I don’t care who. But I’m rather calmer. The fact that someone loses the record because he did a loop and it doesn’t work or something, I don’t care. But when someone complains that he had to come back and he’s not there, it bothers me.

Can Peter Mueller also expect me to raise his voice for him?
–
If he’s going to do stupid things, sure. If we play the stars of non-stars, we won’t get very far. We must all be a team. I’ve had winning seasons and that’s how it was set up there.

Are the medals a little lower this time for Vítkovice, also thanks to the significant strengthening?
–
You can’t tell. Of course we would, but everyone probably wants it. Everyone enters the season wanting to go as far as possible. Let me have some memory. Nobody wants to finish in March. Then you are only one year older and summer training starts again. I’d rather play until April. Last year we were in the quarter-finals and we would like to take a step forward.
