“I’m back home and resting”; Saxon singer Biff Byford has undergone surgery to treat a heart condition

Biff Byford, the legendary lead singer of British heavy metal band Saxon, recently underwent a medical procedure to treat atrial flutter, a condition that causes the upper chambers of the heart to beat irregularly. The operation, performed by Dr Jane Caldwell at Spire Hull and East Riding Hospital in East Yorkshire, aimed to correct the abnormal heart rhythm and prevent further complications.

The 73-year-old rock icon shared the news with his fans on social media, expressing his gratitude to the medical team. “A big thank you to Spire Hull Hospital, Dr Jane Caldwell and her team. I have just had an operation to stop the atrial flutter in my heart. It feels like a train has run over me but I am back home and resting”Byford wrote, reassuring his fans that he was recovering well from the procedure.

This isn’t the first time Byford has faced heart-related health issues. In 2019, he suffered a heart attack that led to emergency triple bypass surgery.

Since then, Byford has made lifestyle changes to maintain his health, including changing his diet and adopting intermittent fasting.
