Ilze Jansone ‘s novel “Men’ s Cases” has been published / Article / LSM.lv

Ilze Jansone’s novel “Men’s Cases”, which is the writer’s fifth book, has been published, the publishing house “Dienas grāmata” informed.

The novel “Men’s Affairs” aptly describes the experiences of modern intelligence, the press release quotes the description of the book by the writer Sven Kuzmin.

“It is a deeply personal, ruthless and indecent portrait of the group, whose main characters – desperate and stray thinkers – alone radiate the well-known loneliness of the city today. However, everyday scenes are only a small part of the world created by Ilze Jansone. Behind the monotonous daily worries lie much deeper theological and philosophical layers, the interpretation of which always remains up to the reader. But if we talk about parables (and it suits this book much better), Ilze Jansone is one of the few Latvian writers who honestly tries to see the structure of the universe in the grass, ”says Svens Kuzmins.

Meanwhile, Gundega Blumberga writes about the book: “The heroes of this novel are strange. They long for love, but fall in love only with their own imagined suffering. The words of friendship flourish in their lips, but it is better to keep them fluttering in the air, rather than associating them with the twists of a relationship. They tend to reach the tops of professional ability, but only in the stuffed foot frequency. And I, like Elizabeth, can only watch “how they all go there, finally determined to look into their faces at themselves and their funny lives.” A scary, unfortunately nourished scene of modern reality. ”

Bloomberg also points out that the mirror shown by Jansone is precise, blurry and artistically bright. “It’s not known if the king changed, he found out he was naked,” adds Blumberga.

“Men’s Affairs” is Ilze Jansone’s fifth book (debut in 2006 with the ghost “Beyond the Glass”, “Insomnia”, 2010; “Umurkumur or Farewell to Feminism”, 2013; “The Only One”, 2015).

Ilze Jansone writes prose, translates from English and publishes articles on religious issues and contemporary literature. Graduated from the Faculty of Theology of the University of Latvia, obtaining a doctoral degree in theology and science of religion.

The book was published with the support of the State Cultural Capital. Kaspars Groševs’ painting “Men’s Affairs” has been used in the design of the book, the artist of the book is Jānis Esītis.
