Ilyich Metallurgical Plant in Mariupol resumes production after military stronghold during fighting – RIA Novosti

In Mariupol, production has been resumed at the Ilyich Metallurgical Plant, which was one of the strongholds for the Ukrainian military during the fighting in the city.

As told to the agency RIA Novosti deputy director of the plant Roman Solonarydemining was carried out on the territory of the enterprise, after which a gradual resumption of production began.

To date, a copter shop, a slag processing shop, as well as a department for the production of consumer goods have been put into operation.

As the production worker explained, the launch took place as part of the first stage of the restoration plan, within which it is planned to launch five auxiliary workshops. They produce corrugated sheets, bent angles, and bent channels, which are used to restore the enterprise itself.

Now, according to the deputy director, the company employs 3.7 thousand people. In total, the restoration plan prepared by the plant’s management includes four stages, upon completion of which they plan to expand the workforce to 24 thousand people.

The head of the enterprise also thanked the commanders and soldiers of the Chechen special forces “Akhmat”, who, by order of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov took under protection the territory of the Ilyich plant, which made it possible to preserve the necessary equipment.

“Akhmat” came to us in May last year and took care of the safety of the entire facility… The equipment that is now on the territory of the enterprise, thank you very much, remains intact,” concluded Roman Solonar.

Previously EADaily reported that a Ukrainian military man was sentenced to life imprisonment for shooting up two cars with refugees in Mariupol.
