Convicted of sexual assault, Ilyes Chetti was fired by his club in Angers. A decision which should not have been difficult to make for the SCO which had only started the Algerian player very little during this season.
Ilyes Chetti is a 28-year-old Algerian player, recruited by the Angers club as left-back in July 2022.
This native of Annaba, in the northeast of Algeria, distinguished himself by reaching the final of the Algerian Cup with his club, JS Kabylie, in 2018, winning the title of vice-champion of Algeria with the same club, in 2019.
Haloed by this career, he was recruited by Tunis. He stayed there for three seasons before being bought by the SCO. The player had however signed for one more season, a dispute between the two clubs on this subject.
Ilyes Chetti might have done better to stay in Tunis, because his performance in training or on the pitch did not appeal more than that to the Angevin coach who used him very little during the season. 2022/2023.
According to statistics quoted by Agence France Presse, “he only came on in six matches for a total of less than four hours on the pitch”. We can do better.
But what officially cost Chetti his place was his conviction in a sexual assault case.
Tried in April in appearance on prior admission of guilt, Ilyes Chetti was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for touching a young woman during a nightclub party. Facts serious enough to be qualified as sexual assault.
But not serious enough to move the Angevin coach Abdel Bouhazama who, in the locker room, before a match, had made this comment about the charges against Chetti:
“It’s not mean, we’ve all touched girls before!”
The sentence having leaked in the press, the coach was “driven” towards the exit, exit Abdel Bouhazama.
Today, it’s exit Chetti “taking into account the facts alleged and recognized by the latter” laconically explains the club in a press release quoted by AFP.
Umpteenth episode in a season that will soon be forgotten.
Recall that the SCO of Angers is relegated to league 2 next season, that following the dispute concerning the arrival of Chetti, it is prohibited from recruitment for the two periods of transfer window to come and that its President, Saïd Chabanne, has resigned. last March and was taken into custody in April in a case of “organized gang money laundering”. He must also appear on June 14 at the Angers Criminal Court for acts of sexual assault.
Don’t throw any more!
