The director admitted that he was among the first to know about the state of the skater.

Since mid-January, the public has been closely following the treatment of a famous athlete. After being hospitalized with pneumonia, he suffered amputations, two strokes, and a medically induced coma. The hardest thing now, of course, is for his relatives, who are in the clinic every day and are afraid to hear the news about the deteriorating health of the Olympic champion.

46-year-old Roman Kostomarov is still in Kommunarka, where he was brought with symptoms of pneumonia. Due to a brain hemorrhage, doctors had to put him into an artificial coma, from which they were afraid to remove him because of the risk of even more serious damage to the body. To date, the doctors have managed to stabilize his condition, and they gradually began to return him to consciousness. However, it is too early to make any predictions.

Huge support for Roman in this difficult period of life is provided by his family. Oksana Domnina has been literally spending the night at Kommunarka for more than a month and is the first to know all the news about her husband. The figure skater does not communicate much with the press and does not comment on the situation, so Ilya Averbukh volunteered to talk about what she has to go through. He is a close friend of the Kostomarov family and knows everything about his treatment. The producer of “Ice Age” was also one of the first who decided to help a sick comrade.

According to Averbukh, he has information related to the athlete, but is in no hurry to share it, since the situation changes literally every hour. He is constantly in touch with doctors, and also tries to be useful for a friend’s wife, whom he truly admires. The director noted that Roman’s illness is a heavy blow for the entire ice family, but, of course, his parents and wife suffer first of all. “I am on the phone with Oksana Domnina every day, in the morning and in the evening, we exchange SMS, we call each other. I can hear her voice, she’s doing a great job, a very strong woman. I admire her, her love, every day she goes to the hospital and spends time with Roma. I am fully aware of the information, I communicate with doctors. We believe that Roma will cope with this blow of fate, there is no other way to call it, ”Ilya Averbukh commented on the situation to the publication Sport Express.

Recall that the director organized a tour with the stars of the Ice Age in support of Roman Kostomarov. Initially, it was supposed to take place later, but life has made its own adjustments. Cherepovets and Yaroslavl were the first cities where they saw performances by Tatyana Totmianina, Maxim Marinin, Nikita Katsalapov, Victoria Sinitsyna, Alla Mikheeva, Ivan Bukin and other artists. Fans of the seriously ill skater brought dozens of letters to the ice show, wishing him a speedy recovery.

Ilya Averbukh noted that each couple on the ice was greeted with a standing ovation. Applause and words of support were also addressed to Roman. The director thanked each viewer for the warm welcome and their indifference, since all the money raised from the performances will go to pay for the treatment of the Olympic champion.
