Ilse DeLange receives Buma Award for contribution to Dutch music industry | NOW

Ilse DeLange will receive the Buma Lifetime Achievement Award on Monday during the presentation of the Buma Awards 2022. The 45-year-old singer receives the prize because of the contribution she has made to the Dutch music industry for more than 25 years.

“Ilse DeLange approaches everything with her characteristic and engaging openness and spontaneity. It generates appreciation and admiration from both fans and colleagues,” says Bernard Kobes, director of Buma/Stemra, in a statement. “Ilse is therefore the rightful recipient of the Buma Lifetime Achievement Award 2022.”

DeLange broke through in 1998 with her debut album World of Hurt† The country album was sold 600,000 times, good for five times platinum. Since then she has made fifteen more albums, for which she received thirteen platinum records. She has also won six Edisons, dozens of European music awards and an American Country Music Award.

The Buma Lifetime Achievement Award is presented annually to a composer who has performed exceptionally and for a long time. Previously, the prize went to Thijs van Leer (2020), Peter Koelewijn (2019), John Ewbank (2018) and Edwin Evers (2017).
