– On the 3rd, it has been just ten days since Gyeonggi Mayor Lee Jae-joon, Mayor Choi Jong-hwan, Paju Mayor, and Gimpo Mayor Jeong Ha-young, issued a statement urging’free tolls for the Ilsan Bridge’.

At the meeting, it was decided to discuss various ways to reduce tolls, from the acquisition of Ilsan Bridge to the restructuring of the business.

Governor Lee said, “It is too unequal and unfair to pay tolls among the Han River bridges. We will come up with alternatives including a plan to take over by Gyeonggi Province.”

Governor Lee added, “I agree that the national pension should maintain the soundness and soundness of the pension through investment projects, but I don’t think it is correct that it acts as an excessive burden on some residents.”

Ji-yeon Kim of the National Pension Service, the chief shareholder of the Ilsan Bridge, said, “Since the national pension is a national old-age fund, if a reorganization plan is proposed within the scope of not damaging the principle of increasing profitability, we will basically discuss and cooperate with Gyeonggi-do. “I’m going to do it.”

The Ilsan Bridge, which opened in May 2008 with a total of 148 billion won in private capital, invested 148 billion won, connects Beopgot-dong in Goyang and Gulpo-dong in Gimpo.

The road is 1.84km long, with 4-6 lanes round-trip. The current toll is 600 won for light cars, 1200 won for small cars, 1880 won for medium (2 or 3 types), and 2400 won for large cars (4 or 5 types). It is estimated that it will cost 180 billion to 240 billion won for Gyeonggi-do to acquire Ilsan Bridge.

Earlier, Mayor Lee Jae-joon of Goyang said, “The Ilsan Bridge, which opened in May 2008, had a high interest rate at the time of its acquisition even though the risk of loss was low due to the Minimum Operational Income Guarantee (MRG) agreement.” “Especially, subordinated borrowings (36 billion won) have a high interest rate of 20%. It is criticized that it is paying enormous interest to the users of Ilsan Bridge in the name of tolls.”
