Īlona Maska company “SpaceX” enters Lithuania

Īlona Maska space technology company “SpaceX” has registered the company “Starlink Lithuania” in Lithuania this week, according to the data of the Lithuanian Register Center.

Starlink is a space system project by the US company SpaceX, which aims to place 12,000 satellites in Earth orbit to provide wireless Internet anywhere on the planet. More than 1,700 Starlink satellites are orbiting the Earth today.

Minister of Transport Marjus Skuodis has also confirmed the entry of Starlink into the news portal of the Lithuanian public broadcaster Lrt.lt.

“I can confirm that everything necessary is being done for Starlink to start providing services in Lithuania,” he said. “For Lithuania, this will mean more innovative Internet services. Our interests are simple – to make the widest possible range of services and options available to Lithuanian Internet users. In addition, we would like such services to be available in Lithuania as soon as possible. “

At the end of February, Skuodis discussed the possibilities of developing satellite Internet technologies in Lithuania and the Baltic region in a remote conversation with the representatives of SpaceX.

According to the Minister at the time, Lithuania could “become a bridge” for the development of satellite Internet in the markets of the Baltic States and the entire region.

The Ministry of Transport pointed out that the development of satellite communications in Lithuania will help the country achieve the European Union’s goal of providing all households with Internet speeds of 100 megabits per second (Mbps) by 2025.

“Broadband satellite communications from Starlink technologies are particularly important in regions with insufficient terrestrial infrastructure,” she said.

The company in Lithuania will be managed by Lorena Ashley-Dreiere, a US citizen.-
