The Greek Teachers’ Federation (IOE) is going on a 24-hour nationwide strike on October 23 and a strike rally in Athens at 12:00 in the Propylaia and, respectively, throughout Greece.
The Federation emphasizes that it is striking for “decent living conditions for teachers against poverty wages and punctuality. We demand to live decently from our salary!”.
“From the years of the memorandums until today, our salaries have suffered a reduction of almost 60% in their purchasing power, while the accuracy is constantly galloping and at the same time the entry salary is 776 euros”, notes the ILO.
At the same time, he requests “to return the 13th-14th salary and the salary scale of 2016-17. To sign a Collective Labor Agreement for the entire industry, which will guarantee critical labor rights. Equalize the rights of permanent and substitute teachers. A 9-month parenting leave should be granted immediately for the deputies.
To equalize the working hours of kindergarten teachers and teachers who serve in the few positions with those of the rest of the Primary teachers and overall to equalize the working hours of the Primary and Secondary schools. To protect teachers during the exercise of their pedagogical work”.
The teachers express their opposition to the collapsing of departments, with the aim of 15 students per department for kindergarten and 1st and 2nd grades and 20 students for the rest, while they ask to stop the disciplinary proceedings against him, as well as ” to finance the schools from the state budget at the level of the real needs and not to be driven to the search for sponsors”.
ADEDY supports the mobilization of educational unions
