Illegal Prostitution Scandal Uncovered in Green Open Space of Jakarta – Cleanup Efforts Underway

On Monday (29/4), up to 200 workers from different subdivisions cleaned the land​​​​​​​​​​​​ that stretches along the 2 kilometer green open area. West Jakarta Mayor Uus Kuswanto suspects that this situation is due to Kalijodo’s local control.

“Kalijodo used to be a place for prostitution, now maybe there is none, people are just like that now,” said Uus, reported by Antara, on Tuesday (30/4/2024).

A member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PKS group, Abdul Aziz, pointed out contraceptive devices in the form of condoms scattered in the Green Open Space (RTH) Jl Tugabus Angke, Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. According to him, this has happened often.

“This is not the first incident, this has happened often, especially in quiet and dark places,” said Aziz when contacted, Tuesday (30/4).

Aziz said that the DKI Jakarta Regional Government must take several measures to overcome this problem. He requested that light be increased in the area and patrols were made.

“In my opinion, this problem is not expected to be complicated, the DKI Regional Government just needs to take the following measures: Put lights in RTH, conduct regular Satpol PP patrols in vulnerable places, install CCTV the RTH,” he said.

Besides, according to him, MSMEs need to be empowered so that RTH can be more vibrant and busy with visitors. So that negative things don’t happen there.

“The MSME Department can be empowered to create proper stalls in these places so that they become busy with visitors. And negative things will not happen again,” he said.
