On Saturday, Polish border guards deployed about a hundred illegal migrants on the border with Belarus, and also detained four Ukrainian citizens who helped with the further transportation of such travelers.
The Border Guard Service announced this on its Twitter, writes “European truth“.
Border guards reported that 90 illegal migrants from Asia and Africa tried to get from Belarus to Poland during the day.
The largest group was stopped in the Belovezha region, among the 31 people were mostly citizens of Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.
In addition, four citizens of Ukraine were detained for transporting migrants who nevertheless managed to quietly cross the EU border. They were stopped near the settlements of Melnik and Cheremkha, reports PAP.
Recall that since the summer of 2020, the Lukashenka regime has organized a hybrid migration crisis on the borders of Belarus’ European neighbors, facilitating the arrival of people from Africa and the Middle East who are trying to get into the EU. The Baltic states and Poland see this as revenge for Lukashenka’s tough stance on repression of the Belarusian opposition and civil society.
Since the winter of 2021, the intensity of such attempts has decreased significantly, but the problem has not gone away. Individuals who help migrants continue their journey deep into the EU are also regularly identified.
Lithuania and Poland after the fall of 2021 began to build a wall on the border with Belarus.
Now Poland is completing the installation of cameras and motion sensors on its 5.5 m high and 186 km long fence.
