Illegal crossings down 85%: Texas Governor

Featured • Posted on 2024-08-04

The governor of Texas said he will continue to use all state tools and resources through Operation Lone Star to protect the border and prevent the crossing of undocumented immigrants.

This was after celebrating the ruling of the Court of Appeals that allows the state to maintain the barrier of floating buoys on the Rio Grande.

This line of buoys, with a length of almost 300 meters, has been located south of Eagle Pass for more than a year.

Until Biden and Kamala Harris step forward to secure the border, Texas will continue to use every tool and strategy to protect our state and nation to stop illegal crossings, Abbott said on his Facebook account.

The president said that illegal crossings have decreased by 85 percent thanks to the Lone Star program.

Texas is maintaining a large-scale operation with patrol cars and soldiers along the border, who continue to install barbed wire fences and continue to build a metal wall on the banks of the Rio Grande.

A military base with a capacity of 2,300 National Guard members has come into operation in Eagle Pass, so the military presence will be long-term.
