Iliyana Yotova: EC allocates only 101 million euros for the refugee crisis, not 160 – 2024-09-11 06:42:00

/ world today news/ The EC grants only 101 million euros. about the refugee crisis. The resigned cabinet has committed to 3 new open refugee centres. This was stated by the newly elected Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Yotova to BTV.

According to Yotova, Harmanli can happen again at any moment. The policy for migrants is weak, many mistakes were made, the newly elected vice president said.

“About the 160 million euros for refugees, I received an answer from the EC, besides the millions for communication and technology, almost 19 million are for the creation of 3 new open refugee centers and for the transformation of another transit center. This is what we claimed during the campaign and we were reprimanded, but this is the answer,” Yotova said and showed an official answer to her from the EC. “There was constant talk that we were playing on people’s fears. The EC has made a commitment for 101 million, with 10% co-financing expected from Bulgaria, not 160 million. These are not fears, these are the facts. I am asking where and how these centers will be opened. KSNS should have talked about this”, Iliana Yotova is convinced.

Regarding the mandate that the BSP is about to receive from Plevneliev, she pointed out that as soon as President Rosen Plevneliev hands over the mandate to the BSP, the left will return it. “A mandate should not be taken because any attempt to form a government will be agony. It is evident that this Parliament was exhausted. Regardless of the outcome of the presidential elections in Bulgaria, there will be early elections, this was also the desire of GERB, there was no stability of political majority, floating majorities. This is no way to do politics, I said even before the result of the presidential vote. It is very difficult for Borisov because he has an artificially created coalition, they do not have the same vision of the country, the same ideas”, Yotova is categorical.

She explained that she does not see a plot of joint management between GERB and BSP.

Regarding the possibility of Kornelia Ninova becoming the future prime minister, Yotova pointed out that many things must happen and urged – “let’s first see when the early elections will be, who will govern and how, what will be the effects for Bulgaria, we don’t have enough information about Bulgaria at the moment, for the foreign policy commitments undertaken by this government”, the newly elected vice president reproached.

She repeated that GERB and BSP stated that it will not participate in a government within this parliament because it cannot decide anything more for the country. “Obviously, a PF mandate will not happen. Some kind of cabinet with a PF mandate was discussed, but why is it necessary, when there is a CSNS, to pronounce it there, and not again through backstage and agreements. The Bulgarians voted against it. An attempt can be made to form a government, but it will be agony in the coming months, it will not bring anything productive. “Obviously, Plevneliev is not in a position to make a cabinet, and he knew it from the very beginning,” said Yotova.

We are a team with Radev, that’s normal, Yotova said regarding whether she would advise Rumen Radev when forming a possible office cabinet. Her first impression of Radev was that he was a stable and decent person. “He is a man who brings security to a volatile environment in which we all live. At one point, one trusts a strong man like Radev, in my opinion, that’s why he won. BSP is the party that stood behind Radev. From now on, only the national interests of the country will be protected in the presidency, and maximum consensus will be sought between the institutions and society.

In order for things to move forward, consensus, intersections of interests must be sought. I plan to work like this in the future”, said Iliyana Yotova.

She pointed out that she will always remain a left-wing person and will judge every policy by whether it is good for the people or not, but urged that she should not be expected to be a conduit for party ideas in the presidency. “With Rumen Radev, we will show that there is a third way – to the good team that makes its decisions in the name of Bulgaria”, emphasized the newly elected vice president.
