Iliyan Iliev: The term “Bulgarian Ken” that the foreign media stuck to me amuses me a lot

“The definition Bulgarian Ken, which the foreign media stuck to me, amuses me a lot. I even made a song with which I ironize this. The truth is that I never wanted to look like a plastic figure. I have no idols and idols. I try to look for my individuality and I’m betting on her. I’m not offended by that type of comparison, because it’s all about aesthetics and it’s different for everyone.”

This is what he shared before “Bulgaria Today” Iliyan Iliev, who became popular even as a child model after winning a number of titles from beauty contests in Bulgaria and abroad. A Paraguayan magazine placed him in 37th place in a global ranking of the most beautiful models for 2012, and a year after – a late Japanese magazine defined Iliev as one of the models with the most symmetrical faces in the world.

“For me, modeling has always been a step towards the development of my acting career. I have been in fashion since I was 8 years old. I liked that even at a young age I had the opportunity to earn a decent income,” commented the young man.

In addition to being a model, Iliyan developed as a successful actor, make-up artist and years ago as a fashion stylist. Iliev is the only compatriot who can boast of two consecutive awards for “Bulgarian Audience’s Favorite Actor”.

“Becoming an actor is my childhood dream come true. I remember when I was 4 years old, my mother and father took me to the theater. Then I asked: “Do these people know that we are watching them?” and my parents explained that they are actors and that’s their job. From then on, I decided that one day this would be my profession,” the star of the online series “Follow Me” said fondly.

For several years, Iliev has also been building a career as a make-up artist. It defines itself as “the makeup artist not only for the stars” because it is inspired by the happiness it brings to people who rarely use such services.

“In my work as a model, very often the make-up artists tied tins to us and did not come. The fashion agency enrolled me in two courses over several years and I went to learn make-up for a month. I have loved drawing since I was little and attended drawing classes. Make-up is directly related to skills I acquired during the art classes. My profession started as a hobby because makeup relieves me, I liked the opportunity to highlight people’s beautiful features,” Iliyan also told the newspaper.

When asked if he had plastic surgery, Iliev categorically replied that there was nothing like that.

“I care a lot about skin maintenance, but so far I have not had any plastic surgery. My features transform like any growing person. For me, interventions that follow fashion are unhealthy,” said Iliev in the end.
