“Thank you for the great trust. I will not betray you.” This was stated by BSP’s candidate for vice president, Iliana Yotova, before the BSP’s National Conference held today at the NDK. She turned to Gen. Radev with the words “You can’t help but feel a flicker of trust in you and know the value of every single voice that stood behind you. Before you, you have the oldest party in Bulgaria and almost in all of Europe”.
Yotova emphasized that Bulgaria is without perspective, in misery and poverty. “Can we make our country look different so that we and our children have a future?” she asked, stressing that the president has an important role to play in changing that. Yotova added that in the last five years, a president who was not elected, but appointed as such, made the institution meaningless. She recalled that she had witnessed Plevneliev’s behavior outside the country as well, where he only made our compatriots feel ashamed. “I promise you that when we win the elections you will not be ashamed of us,” she said categorically. Yotova added that our country was not only humiliated, but many benefits were also missed. She also paid attention to Plevneliev’s behavior of bowing to the big countries. At the same time, she said, many smaller countries stand firm in their decisions.
Yotova was adamant that never again should the president of Bulgaria allow our country to be humiliated, allow there to be superiors. “It is important not only to know the national interest, but also to have the strength, will, courage and ambition to defend it. With the couple chosen today for the presidential election, we stand before you as people who can do it,” she declared. Yotova emphasized that the basis of the left’s campaign will be the proposals for removing our country from the mire it has fallen into. “We will address every Bulgarian citizen and our campaign will be from the smallest village, to the city, to the large regional center,” she explained. According to the words, even after 2016, our country is at a crossroads and decisions must be made on which our lives as European citizens will depend. “That’s why it’s important who takes the presidency.” She emphasized that we should not be a country that tolerates foreign policies, but a country that makes European policies. “Both in our domestic and foreign policy, we will build friendship and bridges. We are bearers of goodness,” concluded Iliana Yotova.
