The membership of the Republic of Northern Macedonia (PCM) in the European Union is an open one with Bulgaria, said Vice President Iliana Yotova in Bitola, where she attended the opening of a new club at the Ivan Mihailov Bulgarian Cultural Center.
“Bulgaria has no intention of introducing another conflict, given the difficult situation in the world. But PCM’s path to EU membership goes through the open path between the two countries. “There is no way we can clear up the controversial points from the outside,” she said.
According to the Vice President, European procedures will be launched, and Bulgaria must find enough serious instruments to ask the European Commission to have guarantees.
“If the terms of the contract are not met, the accession process must stop. The most important thing now is to have serious actions on the part of Northern Macedonia and fulfillment of commitments “, said Yotova and added that from the contract from 2017 until today a lot of time has been wasted. The contract is almost non-existent, she said.
“When we receive evidence of this, we will prepare a national position, it can be reconsidered,” said the vice president.
Asked about the statements of Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska Yotova commented: “I have no information about the details of the statement of the Minister. I guess the Prime Minister will take measures so that the advisory team does not pursue a second foreign policy. This would be alarming and dangerous, and no one will take Bulgaria’s position seriously. “
