“President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov are very different, but what I notice in this mandate is the great desire for our country to look good outside. At the same time, a large number of politicians, some judges and prosecutors in one voice want the monitoring to be abolished,” said Yotova.
This morning she spoke out against the creation of a new anti-corruption body: “The fact that a new structure is created every time does not mean that we have increased efficiency. It is necessary to put order in the statute of limitations of the cases, to implement the prescriptions and punishments – not so much an organizational as a substantive reform”.
However, the vice president indicated that he works very well with Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva in areas such as Bulgarian citizenship and pardons.
Yotova spoke flatteringly of the new candidate for the Bulgarian European Commissioner, Maria Gabriel. Calling her only by her first name, she was adamant that the “digital” department in the EC is not unimportant. “In 2014, when the European Commission was formed, one of Juncker’s first priorities was the digital market,” the vice-president emphasized.
According to her, Gabriel has a tough task – to finish what Gunther Oettinger started, to offer his vision and to work in sync with two other European Commissioners, but he will manage. “Knowing Maria’s work, I believe that she will not forget her country, as the previous European Commissioners did”, emphasized Yotova.
Iliyana Yotova categorically announced the withdrawal of Bettina Zoteva from CEM because of the scandal with the threats made against a journalist. At “Dondukov” 2 they did not check whether it was possible to withdraw Zoteva and with whom to replace her. Discussions on the subject are forthcoming.
On the occasion of the scandal between MPs Alexander Simov and Toma Bykov over Maria Gabriel, Yotova stated that she reserves the right to her personal opinion, and Gabriel presented herself well.
“There has never been a misunderstanding with the origin of the Bulgarian alphabet. These are frivolous things.
