Today we propose a new comparison that many have asked us in recent months. After trying to figure out who wins the challenge between ho.Mobile and Iliad, today Kena and Iliad herself enter the ring. Because both brands, objectively, are going great in this period.
They are cheap, transparent and simple. However, there are substantial differences and in this post we will try to highlight and analyze them. But we will do it as always with your help. Consider this article just a starting point and then let loose in the comments space at the bottom. Tell us yours. Let us know what you think and tell us above all your experiences of passing from Iliad to Kena or from Kena to Iliad. Let’s get started right away.

Iliad or Kena Mobile? Which one to choose?
Offers that can be activated right now online with Iliad you can find them at this link, constantly updated by our team of experts.
As you can see, Iliad offers are among the most convenient on the market. Even more than those of Kena but we will talk more about this later. Because the variables to be analyzed are different. Definitely, as we explained in the case of Iliad vs Ho, it is to be taken into consideration that the original product is undoubtedly Iliad.
Kena Mobile was born a few months before Iliad but absolutely in total response to the arrival of the French. Those who follow 4Fan.it know well that the fashion of b-brands, that is the low cost secondary brands of the main telephone companies, was born exclusively in response to the disruptive arrival of Iliad. In a Kena Mobile vs Iliad comparison, it seems fair to point out because these are the cases in which, when in doubt, it is better to choose the original.
True manager vs MVNO
Another fundamental element in the purchase choice is the consideration of the fact that Iliad is a real telephone operator, Kena Mobile is an MVNO. Kena is a virtual, a TIM brand, relies on the TIM network and enjoys the know how huge company of the ex-monopolist. But it’s not a real telephone company. Iliad is, despite the initial roaming with WindTre, the company is working to build its own autonomous and totally independent network, which Kena does not have and never will have.
An Iliad customer is a series A customer for the company. A Kena Mobile customer, however you put it, is in fact a Series B customer of Tim. And this, in our opinion, makes a big difference.
Sometimes Kena Mobile is cheaper than Iliad
But let’s go back to the fundamental factor prices. Iliad is super convenient but you may not infrequently run into promotions super cheap of Kena Mobile, sometimes on paper even cheaper than the Iliad ones.
Kena is particularly strong, however, in the specific practice of the operator attack, or particular promos dedicated to the customers of a single operator and only in portability. The most delicious Kena offers are almost always targeted on Iliad users. And here we return to the original mission of Kena, which is to put a spoke in the wheels in Iliad.
On the other hand, Iliad offers are simple and for everyone. Whatever the operator of origin, even in the case of simple use of the sim for a new telephone number. This is perhaps the most important aspect from a commercial point of view. Iliad is the only manager out of the game of operator attacks. And it is, in an absolutely personal opinion, something to be given to Iliad absolute credit.
Iliad’s 4G is faster than Kena’s
Easy say 4G. Both brands offer 4G connection only that Kena’s is limited, as is the case in the end for all secondary brands at 30mbps. Decent speed but still significantly castrated compared to the performance achievable with a full 4G. So be careful, in your choice of purchase, to take this seriously gap between the two 4Gs. Iliad is obviously a very young manager and for the moment in some areas of the country the performances are not the best but in any case it does not impose “bottlenecks” at the start.
All’estero vince Iliad
Abroad, or rather, towards abroad, Iliad wins. The fourth operator has always focused on call ceilings that also include foreign lines. It has been like this since the very beginning and there are about 60 countries where you can call without limits with an Iliad sim. Unfortunately, in most cases calls are included and free if made to landlines (but who still has a landline number ?!). But organizing well is still a good opportunity for those who often phone outside national borders. Kena on this is back.
Equal merit in the number of international roaming agreements. In other words, the networks to which it is possible to hook up when traveling. Iliad is very complete but Kena Mobile does even better because obviously also in this it inherits the different contracts stipulated by the giant TIM.
The strong point of Kena is the TIM network
There is no doubt that at the end of the day, in our opinion, the only real strong point of Kena is the TIM network used. On coverage it is always difficult to make a homogeneous speech and therefore there are areas where one network clearly prevails over the other. Here is if the Iliad network (or the WindTre one it relies on) does not take anything at home, it is obvious that the smartest choice will be to rely on Kena.
We believe this is the rough case in which Kena could be chosen in place of Iliad.
Iliad convergence
As a real operator, with licenses and physical infrastructure, Iliad will soon propose convergent solutions, for example, with fixed fiber telephony (whose arrival is set for the first days of 2021). In the field of convergence, Kena, not having its own physical networks, will only be able to enter partially and always in “virtual” mode.
But as said at the beginning, this post of ours wants to start a broader discussion of comparison. We read all the comments in the area below, so please share your thoughts and experience with us. Even if you disagree with what we have written (which is absolutely our personal view of the mobile market and not absolute truth) please let us know.
