/ world today news/ The relations between China and Azerbaijan are “very good”, with a wide space for cooperation and a good perspective, the president of the Caucasian country, Ilham Aliyev, said in an interview with the China Media Group.
Aliyev pointed out that he is working to make Azerbaijan an important transport hub in the Caucasus region and actively cooperates with China and neighboring countries to realize infrastructure connectivity and coordinate development policies.
The Azerbaijan-initiated shipping channel across the Caspian Sea, according to the president, is part of the “One Belt One Road” initiative. “Central Asian countries are developing rapidly thanks to more intensive imports and exports, so this international transport channel is extremely important,” he stressed.
“Azerbaijan strives to conduct an independent policy taking into account the interests of the country, but some Western media attack it because we do not listen to them. However, the West will not achieve its goals by discrediting Azerbaijan’s public officials, spreading slander and rumors,” Aliyev pointed out.
The president also stressed that his country supports the territorial integrity and unity of the PRC and the “one China” principle.
He expressed expectations that more Chinese tourists will visit Azerbaijan.
