Ildefonso Rodríguez appointed new director of Seville Film Festival

The Institute of Culture and the Arts (ICAS) of the Seville City Council has appointed Ildefonso Tito Rodríguez new director of the Film Festival after finishing the stage of José Luis Cienfuegos in this position. With the completion of this cycle, which took place effectively last week, a new project begins at the hands of Rodríguez, which will begin its journey with its participation in the Cannes Film Festival, which is held next week and which is fundamental for the programming of the Seville Festival, guaranteeing its celebration next November. In addition, Rodríguez already worked at the Seville festival between 2012 and 2016.

Graduated in Audiovisual Communication from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Tito Rodríguez began his career as an editor and broadcaster at Cadena SER Gijón, Punto Radio Gijón and at the production company of El Comercio TV (Channel 10 Television), where he produced content for the Principality’s Radio and Television of Asturias (RTPA).

From January 2019 to May 2023, he has held the role of Director of Marketing Policies at the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA). He developed and executed the Strategies for the international promotion of Spanish cinema at the main festivals and markets that this organization attends, as well as the coordination of networks and alliances for international cooperation, communication and care of public relations. As part of his functions at the Institute, he has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the San Sebastián Film Festival, a member of the board of trustees of the Sitges Foundation – Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and of the MEDIA Office, as well as a national representative at the European Film Promotion (EFP).

SEFF interdepartmental coordinator between 2012 and 2016

Immediately before joining the ICAA, he was Head of Programming and Industry at the Gijón International Film Festival (2017 to 2019), where he founded the FICX Industry Days (currently FICX PRO), a program for professionals held in parallel to the event. Festival in which he was a member of the Press Department between 2009 and 2011.

For more than a decade, he was part of the organization of various film festivals and events in Spain and the Netherlands, acting, among others, as Head of Communications and Publications Coordinator at the Holland Film Meeting (Industry Forum of the Nederlands Film Festival, Utrecht ), where he was also a member of the evaluation committee of projects in development for the HFM Co-Production Platform; press agent and guest management at the Rotterdam International Film Festival (IFFR); Responsible for Communication and Marketing at World Cinema Amsterdam (organized by Rialto in Amsterdam), as well as at the (S8) Mostra de Cinema Periférico (A Coruña, Spain). In it Seville Film Festival (SEFF) was interdepartmental coordinator for five editions between 2012 and 2016.

In addition, he has collaborated as a member of the organizing committee at the biennial Spanish and Portuguese film festival Festibérico (Delft).
