Ilaria D’Amico has decided to change the direction of its professional career and, while remaining in the company that consecrated it (Sky), will abandon football (his column on the Champions has been entrusted to Anna Billò) to focus on current affairs. At the service, he says in this interview with “F”, in the name of the pain he faced due to the loss of his sister. A daily suffering, which has accompanied her in recent years and which she has narrated with mourning still on her, lived.
Ilaria D’Amico and the diagnosis: “A bolt from the blue”
“Catia was 12 years older than me. We learned that she was ill in January 2019, a nasty tumor in the intestine area “. The diagnosis, remember the Journalist and TV presenter was “a bolt from the blue because she was the healthiest person in the world. We managed the disease together, choosing the whole path. Then last May, the news that he was bad again. It went away in a few months, last September 5th. I was with her“, he claims Ilaria D’Amico.

A mourning that cannot fail to have deeply marked her, to the point of changing her: “I am more fragile. I feel that she has become a part of me ”, confides Ilaria. Which also changed the definition of priorities; “Today I give less importance to how I dress, I am moved to think of its dignity and privacy. This loss made me redefine my priorities: work is, but the need to look after my family is stronger ”.
And that also influenced the choice to leave the televised football to tackle topical issues, in full second wave: “I had wanted to change for a while, Catia gave me the push to really do it. When I was touring hospitals with her, I felt the urge to deal with service issues, to go back to telling what we are today. So when the proposal for Sky everything took shape for a prime time event ”.
