MADRID, KOMPAS.TV – Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has made a personal confession about his gay identity. The award was tweeted by the goalkeeper nicknamed Santo Iker via his Twitter account on Sunday (9/10/2022) Indonesian evening.
“I hope you guys respect me: I’m gay,” Casillas tweeted, adding the Happy Sunday hashtag.
Casillas also became a footballer with the flashiest name who admitted to being gay.
The former Real Madrid player has a phenomenal career spanning more than two decades.

Casillas’ tweet was welcomed by colleagues from rival clubs, Carles Puyol. The former FC Barcelona defender responded to Casillas’ tweet with an encouraging message.
“Time to tell our story, Iker,” Puyol said, adding a love and kiss emoji.
Previously, Iker Casillas is known for marrying a woman, aka a sports journalist named Sara Carbonero. Their second marriage was blessed with two children.
The relationship lasted five years, Casillas and Carbonero divorced in March 2021 ago.
During his goalkeeper career, Santo Iker won five La Liga titles with Real Madrid. He has also won three Champions League titles with The whites.
On an individual level, Casillas has also won two La Liga best goalkeeper awards, a Golden Glove world title, five IFFHS and FIFPro best goalkeeper world titles and six-time UEFA Team of the Year.
