The company said that the construction of the “IKEA” store is planned near Tallinn in the village of Kurna, Rae parish. The store is scheduled to open in autumn 2022.
Johannes Johannes Johannes, Sales Director of IKEA Baltics, pointed out that IKEA entered the Estonian market in August 2019, launching e-commerce and opening an ordering and receiving point. “Now we are taking the next step to provide the people of Estonia with a full IKEA experience,” said Johanneson.
Representatives of IKEA indicated that the store will have two floors with a total area of about 30,000 square meters. The store will have more than 8,000 home improvement items, as well as a restaurant, a Swedish grocery store and a bistro.
“Construction work will begin as soon as local authorities issue the necessary construction permits, and the work is scheduled to take about 16 months,” the company added.
On August 30, 2018, the “IKEA” store was opened in Riga. The turnover of Paul Mason Properties in the first full year of operation, which lasted from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019, was 81.928 million euros, but the company’s profit reached 10.371 million euros.
The area of the Riga “IKEA” store is 34,500 square meters, but the store area occupies a total of 10 hectares. The total investment in the establishment of the “IKEA” store in Latvia was more than 50 million euros.
The IKEA franchisee in Latvia is Paul Mason Properties, which also owns an IKEA store in Lithuania and Iceland. The sole owner of Paul Mason Properties is FE Corporation BV Netherlands.
The company “IKEA” was established in 1943.
