IKEA has cables and telephone sets at great prices

Look, I didn’t think I’d find phone chargers at good prices at IKEA, but it happened.

In short, take a look at what’s being sold out there:

LOOK: 45W charger with two USB-C ports. Outputs 45W if only one port is used or 22W simultaneously on both. Compatible chargers are Power Delivery PD 3.0, QuickCharge QC4+ and Programmable Power Supply (PPS). It costs 70 pounds.

LOOK: same name, but the 30W version with one port. It costs 30 lei and offers the same cost standards.

30W or 45W may seem too little in a world where some phones support 100W charges. That’s right. Meanwhile, a good question would be do you need 100W on all your chargers? You might want another one in the living room too, or a double one for travel.

Also, the maximum for any iPhone is 30W and the maximum for any Samsung phone is 45W, so with that we have already covered a large part of the market. I got, for example, a double 45W one from IKEA a few days ago.

THE WORD OF ARRIVAL: it is a USB-C to USB-C cable of 1.5 meters and supports a maximum of 100W. It costs 50 pounds.

It is a very good price for its length and for the maximum power it carries. It comes in two versions, gray and black and white like a zebra. I bought a gray one and it’s a very strong cable, covered in a good woven fabric, and has some kind of elastic on one end to hold it when you put it up.

Why did I like it? Because such a long and high-powered well-made cable costs a lot. For example, Apple sells for 200 lei similar cablebut of 240W (power that does not exist on chargers or devices, in practice); it’s known to be well made, but… it’s cable.

It is the closest cable in price to the IKEA one one Samsung of 1.8 meters and also 100 watts, which costs 69 lei. I have two such Samsung cables, they are also very good, but note that they are not covered with fabric for more resistance.

I would have happily taken the Samsung even now, for that matter, but I was on a trip to IKEA because of furniture and I took two cables and a charger from them, taking advantage of the opportunity.

Anyway, if you want recommendations for other chargers, also from my experience, I always go to Samsung. There are some Anker or Ugreen on the market that are small and powerful but very expensive. On the other hand, Samsung sells models like the ones below, and they are often on sale:

And this would be it Nothing of 45Win whom I would trust.

Two important things to remember:

  • Fast charging via Power Delivery only works on USB-C, not USB-A.
  • The above are 480 Mbps cables, ie USB 2.0. They are for fast charging. If you want fast data transfer, I’ll probably write about that another time, but long story short I use the cable that came with an external SSD for that as needed, and 99 % of my data transfers over Wi-Fi anyway.
  • there are all kinds of chinese companies that sell the above samsung chargers on eMAG, but i never trusted them. When I recently bought a Trio model, I chose to pay more by buying the one sold by eMAG. My recommendation is to buy only if it is sold by eMAG, Flanco, GSMnet or Samsung Mobile Store (which is a seller of eMAG). Alternatively you can buy directly from Samsung.ro or GSMnet.roOf course.

I can confirm that a single Samsung 65W port with a Rundhult cable from IKEA charges my laptop at 60W as I measured, which is close to what the original Apple charger 65W does. A good cable plus a charger with Power Delivery means great power.
