IKEA Employees Receive Significantly More Pay for Less Benefits | Economy

IKEA Netherlands employees will receive a salary increase of at least 13% in one year, up to almost 17%. The store announced it.

In the collective bargaining agreement it was agreed that the wages of all employees will increase in two stages. As of November 1, 9% to 11.7% for people in the lower wage scales. Another 4-5% will be added in July next year.

However, the allowances for working late nights and Saturdays will disappear and the allowance for working on Sundays will be halved. The money released as a result is used to raise wages.

“A compensation scheme has been agreed for up to four years for all current employees. The first 3.5 years will be fully paid, the last six months by 50 percent,” according to a joint message from IKEA and WIM unions and FNV.

Other aspects of the remuneration policy are under review; the youth wages will also be abolished.
The collective bargaining agreement applies retroactively from 1 October this year to 1 October next year. The trade unionists have yet to accept this. In total there were 6,000 employees.
