Two customers drank disinfectant at Ikea in Trondheim and ended up in the emergency room on 9 August. The customers thought it was juice.
The Norwegian Food Safety Authority has received a report of concern about the incident. It says that the poisonous liquid was in a glass carafe which the customers perceived as juice, write Nidaros.
– We drove to the emergency room, and the doctors kept us overnight for observation. Fortunately, there was no caustic damage to the esophagus, just irritation, the message says.
Ikea refers to the incident as a failure.
– After the incident, we have taken several measures to ensure that this does not happen again, says department store manager Randi Schjetne at Ikea Leangen.
