One person was killed in a shooting incident in IJmuiden on Tuesday evening. The police are still looking for the perpetrator.
The incident took place around 6.40 pm in Kromme Mijdrechtstraat. The officers found one victim there. An air ambulance also arrived on the scene.
Police previously reported that the victim had been taken to hospital. The victim died there from his injuries. The police are investigating the shooting incident in the neighborhood and are asking witnesses to come forward.
IJmuiden has been dealing with violence in the city for some time. For this reason, Mayor Frank Dales of the municipality of Velsen, which includes IJmuiden, designated almost all of IJmuiden as a safety risk area on January 19.
