In this regard, THE INFORMER spoke with Julianne de la Torre, one of the organizers, who shares that the project is supported by the System of Supports for Creation and Cultural Projects (SACPC), the Secretariat of Culture of Jalisco, Hellenic Cultural and Performing Arts Center of the UdeG.
“This is the II Cycle of Documentary Theater Made by Women, we did the first edition last year. And it is a concept that contemplates presentations of stage projects, several conversations, a couple of workshops, one is the one that begins today ‘How do we accompany each other in creation?’, which is to open processes and methodologies of documentary creation and there will also be an editorial project to anthologize the work and existence of women playwrights in Jalisco”.
Regarding the importance of this project and its impact on the local cultural scene, Juliana highlights: “For us it is an important platform, not only for our own projects, which in itself is already a great fortune to be able to put on a piece and know that you can count on the support of other creators and other managers to have presentations. Last year the conversations were related to the themes of the works and now they are with other partners of the scenic work of Jalisco. So, opening conversations, networks and taking into consideration the possibility of employment and the economy of women in performing arts, I think it is one of the most remarkable things”.

It also endorses that this space not only seeks the promotion of existing work or the creation of new pieces, but also creates networks between creative women with others who are interested. Although she stresses that both the workshops and the functions and conversations are open to the public, she does not focus only on women, “but it is important to us that those who are taking the microphone are women to be able to talk about these other ways of produce that we have and be able to accompany us”.
Next Thursday, August 31, there will be talks at the Teatro Vivian Blumenthal Theater and Kali Catrinas Foro Café and in October there will be performances of a staging by Olga Gutiérrez called “Monument” and in November and December three more premieres are being prepared as part of the cycle, while at the end of the cycle there will be the presentation of the anthology editorial project.
