IHK Vice President Warns Against Reintroduction of 29 Euro Ticket for AB Area

“This decision will ultimately cost Berlin and all of us dearly. Of course, everyone is happy about cheap train travel, but in view of multiple crises, a weak economy, inflation and rising interest rates, the €29 ticket is, above all, another mortgage for the state budget. We are talking about almost a billion euros in the next three years; this money would be invested much more sensibly and sustainably in the expansion of public transport. Investments in the infrastructure of local public transport are more urgently needed for the mobility transition than gifts with a watering can.”
