Igors Prelatovs (“Our Party”) has been elected the Chairman of the Daugavpils City Council with 11 votes.
The new mayor was elected two and a half weeks after the previous council chairman Andrejs Elksniņš (“S Harmona”).
Also on Monday, June 29, the deputy chairman of the council – Livija Jankovska from “Our Party” was elected.
CONTEXT:
After the last municipal elections in Daugavpils City Council, the coalition was formed by “S Harmona” with “Our Party” Andrejs Under the guidance of Elksniņš, but at the beginning of September 2017, the situation changed. Andrejs The elf was overthrown, Latgale Party and “Our Party” formed a new coalition as chairman electing Richard Eigim. Later, the coalition disintegrated, and the acting deputy chairman of Daugavpils City Council was Igors Prelatovs, First Deputy Chairman of the City Council from “Our Party”.
In January 2019, Elksniņš returned Latvia’s second largest city is measured in twilight.
New changes in the management of Daugavpils City Council took place in June 2020, when Elksniņš was overthrown by the mayor.
